TORREVIEJA
Torrevieja is a city and coastal municipality in the province of Alicante, in the Valencian Community, Spain.
Located in the south of the province, within the Vega Baja del Segura regionTorrevieja is located in a place of high scenic and ecological value on the shores of the mar Mediterráneo and next to the lagoons of La Mata and Torrevieja.
It is the fifth city in number of inhabitants in the Valencian Community and the third in the province of Alicante, only surpassed by Alicante and Elche.
Location
With a surface of 71 km², in which the urban center, beaches and lagoons are placed. 20 km of coastline, highlighting the beaches of La Mata, Los Locos, El Cura, El Acequión or Los Náufragos.
Climate
Torrevieja enjoys a semi-arid Mediterranean climate, with rainfall of around 260 mm per year and an average temperature of 18 °C.

As well as sun, sea and sand, there are interesting places which is well worth visiting
Torre del Moro
It is one of the highest points in Torrevieja, it is in the place known as Cabo Cervera. Dates originally in the 14th century and the use was to protect from attacks by pirates
Torre de la Mata
It also dates from the 14th century and was used for the extraction of salt from the Lagua de La Mata
Sociedad cultural Casino de Torrevieja
Building from the end of the 19th century, it is decorated and furnished in Nasrid style. The living room is one of the most beautiful rooms in the building
Paseo Vista Alegre
The most crowded area in Torrevieja where the promenade, the Tourism office, the Real Club Náutico and the Eras de la Sal are located. The last one was formerly the warehouse where the salt and the pier were. The currently use is for events, highlighting International Contest of Habaneras and Polyphony in Torrevieja
